Learn about the remarkable work and success of TCDF through Dau's inspiring story below.
Planning the bike trip from Hanoi to Paksong is an exciting challenge. We will cycle through various countries and encounter different types of roads, from asphalt and gravel to muddy paths. Fortunately, we have a valuable tool to assist us: Komoot. This tool not only makes route planning easier but also allows others to follow our journey.
From Abandoned to (Almost) Graduated
Dau was only two years old when she was found at TCDF, malnourished and with decaying teeth. Thanks to immediate medical care and a healthy nutritional plan, Dau recovered. She received financial support to attend school, and through the help of her sponsor and her own dedication, she is now close to completing her bachelor's degree in maritime studies. TCDF provides tailored child support, giving children like Dau a future.
Komoot
I often use the Komoot website and app to plan and follow bike routes. It's an excellent tool for creating and adjusting routes, even in regions where I have been cycling for years. Komoot regularly surprises me with new and unknown paths and routes.
For this special bike trip in Asia, with a fundraising goal, Komoot has provided us with a free premium account for one year. Thank you, Komoot!
Follow Us on Komoot
Thanks to a question from Hans, I realized it is possible for others to follow our journey live on Komoot. Here's how you can do it:
Sign Up: Go to the Komoot website and create an account with a username and password.
Install the App: Download and install the Komoot app on your phone and log in with the same details.
Search: Look under the profile for managing friends and finding friends. Search for "Herman Kasper" or "Dries Kasper" and view our completed routes.
The route we will ride in Asia is recorded daily and made available immediately on the website and in the app. Do you have any questions after reading this article? Feel free to send me a message!
General Information
So far, I have completed 5200 training kilometers and have 11 weeks left until my departure to Hanoi. By sponsoring a kilometer for €5, you can help create a better future for children in Thailand. Together, we can make a world of difference, kilometer by kilometer.
Next week, I will write more about the cultural aspects of Vietnam and what makes cycling there so special for us.
Thank you for your participation and support for this special journey! PS: Sharing this blog is greatly appreciated.
