Why support the Thai Child Development Foundation (TCDF)? Let me take you on a journey that began in 2006 and has led to the inspiring work of TCDF, where education, healthcare, and sustainability come together.
In the period between 2006 and 2011, Thailand became a frequent destination for me, a mix of vacations and business trips. During our travels, my partner Mieke embarked on a transformative half-year stay in Paksong, contributing to the Thai Child Development Foundation through an internship. In those brief visits, I had the pleasure of meeting Ingrid and Roos, the powerhouse duo behind TCDF. Their passion for uplifting Thai disadvantaged children left a lasting impression.
Founded nearly two decades ago, TCDF stands on three pillars: education, healthcare, and sustainability. They forge enduring connections with local families, ensuring that every child receives the opportunity and care they deserve.
Onsite, a school caters to children facing challenges at the village school, and a vocational training center produces various items from locally sourced materials. The farm yields coffee beans, vegetables, and fruits sustainably, fostering a cycle of self-sufficiency. Ducks provide eggs, collected by the children, and the restaurant prepares delicious meals. Everything is now managed by local Thais, fostering employment and knowledge within the community.
As of 2024, TCDF supports almost 400 children across Thailand, addressing the gaps left by mainstream society. Notably, 90 of these children reside in the immediate area, while others are scattered throughout the country.
TCDF's 20th anniversary in late 2024 is a momentous occasion. It aligns perfectly with My cycling journey from Hanoi to Paksong, covering nearly 3500 km, and presents an opportunity to present a significant sponsorship check. This check, a culmination of funds raised during the ride, will contribute to the ongoing success of TCDF, symbolizing the power of combining personal passion with a commitment to making a positive impact.
Join me on this meaningful journey, supporting the incredible work of the Thai Child Development Foundation.
